The search for the green river killer

Carlton Smith and Tomas Guillen

The original (and best) GRK book. Great deets and mood galore, but gets majorly bogged down in SPD gossip. Still worth the read 30 year later.

Green river, running red

Ann Rule

What is there to say? Ann Rule + GRK = a page-turner with awesomely overwrought prose. A must-read.

gary ridgway: the green river killer

The Staff of the King County Journal

This is a more obscure book and reads like an informational text you would use for a book report, but lots of good details and is worth hunting down.

green river killer: a true detective story

Jeff Jensen

Graphic novel written by Tom Jensen's son. This gives great descriptions of body recovery scenes and a more succinct and personal telling of the investigation.

defending gary: unraveling the mind of the green river killer

Mark Prothero, with Carlton Smith

This memoir, written by Gary Ridgway's defense attorney Mark Prothero, delivers the juiciest details and spills the hottest T. If you want the most disgusting details, this book has them!

serial killers: issues explored through the green river murders

Tomas Guillen

Guillen seems to have spent a lot of his career focusing on the GRK, so here's a collection of essays he wrote that almost seems like it's meant to be a textbook for a college class. Nothing to write home about, but also not the worst of the bunch.

green river serial killer: Biography of an unsuspecting wife

Pennie Moorehead

Holy shit, Self-published book about Gary Ridgway's wife Judith with a long handwriting analysis section. This should be awful, and it kind of is, but also definitely worth reading. Judith is more interesting than she has any right to be and this is an essential GRK read.

the riverman: ted bundy and I hunt the green river killer

Robert Keppel

This book is not as interesting as it should be. It details Bob Keppel's investigation of Ted Bundy and then Bundy's "help" with the GRK case. Thoughts: Ted Bundy is shockingly boring and Bob Keppel can hardly contain his desire to talk shit about Dave Reichert. There's good stuff here, but you have to dig through hundreds of pages to find it.

Chasing the devil: my twenty-year quest to capture the green river killer

Dave Reichert

Sheriff Dave Reichert shows his flexibility in this memoir, as he is just sucking his own dick the entire time. Gives juicy details and hot T, but there are better books where you don't have to read about how great God and Sheriff Reichert are the entire time.
