The Amityville Horror

Get the fuck out!!! Jay Anson, perhaps the worst published author of all time, tells the story of the Lutz family and their "haunted" house. Salacious yet boring, drab yet tacky, it's the perfect summation of the 1970s.

Jay Anson

High Hopes: the Amityville Murders

The only halfway decent book in the Amityville cannon, this was written by the prosecuting attorney and describes the murders and the trial. A little dry at parts, but at least doesn't bring up Satan, warlocks, or Butch DeFeo as misunderstood antihero.

Gerard Sullivan and Harvey Aronson

The Night the DeFeos Died

A scandalous account of the DeFeo family dysfunction by a fake wife of Butch, written by a real doidoi who actually uses the word "supposably." Give it, at least, a good skim.

Amityville - My Sister's Keeper: a Story of Death, Deception, and the Occult

Holy shit, George Lutz was a warlock!!! Not really, but that's the thesis of this book and the one point that the author seems insistent on hammering home. This really was written by Kathy Lutz's sister and she apparently has either gone off the deep end or is extremely pragmatic about cashing in on the stupidity of Amityville fans.

The Devil I Know: My Haunting Journey with Ronnie DeFeo and the True Story of the Amityville Murders

Jesus fucking Christ, here's another "Butch Defeo was a misunderstood hero" book. How do these keep getting written? The author is a self-proclaimed psychic who is contacted telepathically by Butch and she goes to prison to free him from Satan's grip. This book is actually better and more interesting than some of the others, but still absolutely bonkers.

Ric Osuna's site - mostly bullshit, but has the less gory crime-scene photos.

Amityville FAQ

Somehow related to George Lutz's original website from the early aughts. Very Angel Fire.

Amityville Files

Probably the best Amityville website. Full of original documents and photos with minimal conspiracy nonsense.
